Nothing matches AfterEffects directly, especially when you consider all the templates, plugins and instructional material out there. However there IS software that can do things, some better, some worse, than AfterEffects without the Adobe subscription lock-in. It's not just about subscriptions either. Adobe makes it difficult to cancel, charges extra fees and generally is dishonest through dark UX methods.
