Raspberry Pi Digital Signage
Need some options for digital signage using Raspberry Pi both in the horizontal and the vertical mode. A web interface would be nice, something that can auto-update and refresh the screen. If the pi is just displaying a webpage and the webpage has the features, then you'd want to ensure the pi boots into the page with full screen and removing the UI chrome of the browser.
It's entirely possible to leverage a simpler setup rather than full blown data driven digital signage. For example, what about just an auto-updating photo / video slideshow pulling from a server directory? Something with a preloader for solving latency issues. And perhaps some scheduling to the screen so it goes off during time of the day it won't be used.

It's not always called “digital signage” when people use it for home. Sometimes it's called a “Home Dashboard” or a “Magic Mirror” which would be used on a mirror display screen.
